Kerala Science Congresses: MBGIPS bagged 1st prize in the KSCSTE institutions category

Dr. R. Prakashkumar, Director, MBGIPS has been elected as Fellow of National Academy of Sciences (FNASc), India in the year 2016. The fellowship will be conferred at the 86th Annual Session of the Academy to be held during 2-4 December 2016 at Uttarakhand State Council for Science and Technology , Dehradun, India

Dr R Prakashkumar, Director - Malabar Botanical Garden & Institute for Plant Sciences is conferred with FGMF( Fellowship title of Gregor Mendel Foundation) on 21st July 2016.

Dr. R. Prakashkumar was conferred the Eminent Scientist Award 2015 for the overall contribution in the field of Plant Sciences on the occasion of 2nd Inernational Conference on Environment and Ecology at Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu by the International Foundation for Environment and Ecology, Kolkata and Confederation of Indian Universities, New Delhi.


National Academy of Biological Sciences (NABS) leadership award

R. Prakashkumar received the Leadership Award 2014 of the National Academy of Biological Sciences for the leadership contributions in Biological Sciences on the 22nd August 2015 at the University of Mysore.

Lifetime Achievement Award of the Indian Fern Society

Prof.P.V. Madhusoodanan, KSCSTE Emeritus Scientist, Malabar Botanical Garden, Kozhikode, has bagged the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Indian Fern Society for his contributions to the Science of Pteridology (science of ferns and fern allies). The award was declared at an annual meeting of the society in Himachal Pradesh. Prof. Madhusoodanan has published more than 180 original research papers and six research-level reference books on the subject. Read More

John C. Jacob Award

The MBGIPS has been chosen for the maiden award instituted by Green World, in memory of environmental activist sri. John C. Jacob. The John C. Jacob Award is given to institutions making outstanding contribution to create public awareness on environment-related matters and carries a cash prize of Rs.10,000 and a citation.This year's winner was chosen by a committee comprising environmental activist Shobheendran, poet P.K. Gopi and Gandhian Thayattu Balan. The garden has a rich collection of plants endemic to the Western Ghats and has been organising biodiversity conservation programmes.

University of Calicut has approved Malabar Botanical Garden as one of its Research Centres:MBGIPS has been approved as a research centre in Botany of the University of Calicut w.e.f. 03-11-2011 vide University order No. CDC/2121/2010 dtd. 03-11-2011
