Lifetime Achievement Award of the Indian Fern Society

P.V. Madhusoodanan, KSCSTE Emeritus Scientist, Malabar Botanical Garden, Kozhikode, has bagged the Lifetime Achievement Award of the Indian Fern Society for his contributions to the Science of Pteridology (science of ferns and fern allies). The award was declared at an annual meeting of the society in Himachal Pradesh. Prof. Madhusoodanan has published more than 170 original research papers and six research-level reference books on the subject.

The Indian Fern Society (associated with IAP- International Association of  Pteridologists. USA) promotes researches and studies in Pteridology (the science of Pteridophytes i.e., Ferns and Lycophytes) in India. Established by veteran pteridologist Prof.S.S. Bir (former Vice Chancellor, Punjab University, Patiala) in 1983, with its Head Office at Chandigarh. They publish the journal “The  Indian Fern Journal”- a quarterly journal exclusively for pteridophytes. Important pteridologists who contribute commendable research work are honoured giving the title FIFS (Fellow of Indian Fern Society). Every year a National Seminar on Pteridology is being organized by this society. Lifetime Achievement award will be given to Indian Pteridologists who have enriched the knowledge and information on Indian Pteridology
